Create a Miracle in your Life

I just met Vincent Genna and like what he does. It is very much in line with what I believe and teach. Therefore I will post it here over the next few weeks but if you prefer you can go directly to his blog too. It is

Here is your first exercise for week 1:

Everything in life was NOT created by thought. It was created by BELIEFS. If thoughts alone were our creating powers, than all the screaming babies in the world would have no voices, and everyone who cut you off on the road would be dead! We have a lot of thoughts every day, including daydream and fantasy thoughts. They don’t all come to fruition after having them. That’s because they are not powered by anything. Beliefs empower your thoughts! Thoughts focus the energy we create from our beliefs. Since, we are connected and one with a Greater Power, Higher Source, Unlimited all Loving Being, God, or whatever you wish to call it, we create everything in our lives either consciously or subconsciously. I am attempting to help you learn how to create your life consciously. That way, you will create the things you want, rather than the things you don’t want.

Edgar Cayce was a famous contemporary “Sleeping Prophet” who said, “Spirit is life; mind is the builder; and physical is the result.” In other words, what you believe (spirit), gives life and empowers what you think (mind). And what you think, creates your physical world (result). So, for your first exercise this week, you’re going to empower your desire statement by believing it is a real part of you that you truly believe you want.

Part 1-Read your desire statement out loud, not just silently in your head, and say it with as much feeling and desire as you can. Feel it as a real and meaningful desire, not just as a flippant want. Change it from being just words, to being a real part of you. Say it with passion!

Part 2-Then close your eyes and envision the pad or piece of paper you wrote your desire statement down on in your mind. Then, make yourself see a cord coming out of the pad or piece of paper and connecting right to where your belly button is, just like an umbilical cord! It doesn’t make a difference what type of cord it is, but I want you to see your desire statement actually attached to your body and as if you are feeding your words your energy. When you are visualizing this, you can see electrical energy radiating from your body to your desire statement, light radiating to it, or even blood. Whatever you choose or want, just see your desire statement attached to you and you feeding it. It is best to attach it to your belly button because that is actually your solar plexus chakra and where your energy flow converges.

This is how we were fed and kept alive in utero, so that how we are going to feed our desire statement for this purpose. I know it may sound funny, but try to make it as real as possible for you. It’s ok if your visualization goes in and out. Just keep trying to see it as best you can. The better you can do this, the more you will be empowering your desire. Remember, do both parts of this as often as you can throughout the entire day for the whole week, and let it be one of the last things you do before you go to bed tonight. It becomes easier each day. Also, jot down anything you notice during the day that may be different, as well.

Good luck to all!

I second that! Have a wonderful day and an even better life!

How Your Beliefs Drive You

“If you are going to think anyway, why not think big?”

– Donald Trump, US Real Estate Billionaire

Isn’t it true that we are constantly thinking? Whether we want to or not, thoughts flow through our mind day and night. We are not in control of that but we are in control of which thoughts we allow into our mind.

You might say “But thoughts just happen. I am not in control of them.”

And you are right. Normally we are not in control of them BECAUSE we have that belief; the belief that they just happen. But that is not true.

Thoughts are created through our background, culture, past experiences and our interpretation of these experiences. This mix forms our beliefs. Most of these were created during early childhood and we are not even aware of them.

However, the consequence is that we are living by values and beliefs that served us as children but might not serve us anymore today.

Let me give you an example from my own life. Because we were very poor after we fled from Communist Germany, I had “Financial Security” as one of my top values. But I have been financially secure for many years now so whenever I made a chunk of money, I somehow lost it again. It was really frustrating until I realized that it happened because of my value about finances. I changed that to “Financial Freedom” and things started changing. My eyes were opened to false friends and I became much more careful and clear in my investment strategies.

Another example. In elementary school my niece was told (by a really incompetent teacher) that she would never be any good at math. She adopted that belief and even though she was brilliant in all other areas she disliked the subject of math and gave no time or attention to it which eventually really made her a bad math student.

What we believe is what we live. Our beliefs create our automated responses to certain situations in all areas of our lives. Changing our core values and beliefs can totally transform our life.

Stay positive and true to yourself

I know it’s hard to stay positive when we are surrounded with so much negativity:  rising unemployment, falling revenues and hardship dominate the daily headlines worldwide. But it is exactly now that we need to focus on the positive and turn bad news into good news.

The global economic downturn, which has touched all of us in some way, presents us with a great opportunity to rethink what’s important in life and what success  really mean to us. Only when we know what we truly want can we take action and achieve the success we grave.

I believe that the only way to be successful – no matter what your definition of success may be – is to start by identifying your true values and beliefs. You see we can turn around in circles for years, trying as much as we want to reach success, but if our beliefs are contrary to what we consciously want, we are highly unlikely to get there.

In the 90s, I was on top of the world. We had just sold our business and I invested most of my money in the booming stock market.  I was sure I would never have to work again for the rest of my days. That was a wonderful freeing feeling! Finally I was able to focus only on what my passion was and that was to to give speeches and do trainings, mostly free of charge, on living your dreams as I was living mine.

Unfortunately soon after, my father died very suddenly and my Mom became very confused. I sold our home  because she did not want to stay there, relocated her and got myself a nice apartment close by.  While trying to take care of her, getting used to the new situation and working on setting up my training company, I forgot to keep an eye on our investments. The stock market crashed and we lost an incredible amount of money; money we had all worked so hard for. I was devastated but didn’t know what to do so I waited for the market to recover, which lost us even more.

I tried to recover some of our losses by investing in a business venture with my cousin.  He not only massivly overcharged me, he eventually also drove the company into bancruptcy. Not only did I lose my money, I also had to pay the banks for his losses. Meanwhile my mother spent money as if there was no tomorrow. She bought herself a new Mercedes and a mobile home, which she used maybe a half dozen times. Then she sold it to that same cousin who never paid her. Instead he sold it on and used the money for his own means. I could not believe that a family member and someone I considered a “friend”  would do anything like that and closed my eyes and ears for many years.  I kept falling into the same trap again and again. I bought some extremely overpriced real estate and sold it with massiv losses when money became tight.  A “boyfriend” twiddled me out of a valuable piece of land, another gave me false money etc. etc.

Because of my bad investment decisions I lost most of my once large “nest egg” and suddenly found myself in a situation where I could not do anymore what I wanted to do when I wanted to do it. It came to a head when  the banking crisis started and banks closed on loans plus the company I did a lot of trainings for closed down. From one day to the next no more cash flow but still plenty of expenses…

It had taken just over a decade and towards the end things speed up. More and more foul opportunities came my way, each in a different format, until I finally realized that this was a repeated pattern that I had run all my life.  For a little while more I stayed stuck in a dark place feeling guilty and stupid, beating myself up because I had not seen it earlier.

Audience during Barb's seminarBut instead of giving up, I took a deep breath and checked in with my values. Integrity and persistance were some of them, so instead of hitting back in the same way these crooks had consciously cheated and fooled me, I stayed true to myself and continued to walk my road to help thousands of people find and live their dreams. Very slowly I rebuilt my confidence, finished and published my book and found people that gave me  opportunities to live my purpose. People that gave me an audience so I could show more and more people the way to live true to their values and beliefs; to actually live their purpose.

For a long time it had been a lonley road but I realized through all this turmoil that although I had lost my money, I was still blessed with many other things that were actually more important than the money. I still had my love for what I was doing and the results people were getting through my work. There is nothing more satisfying than being able to hep others truly live their life the way they were meant to.

I am truly blessed and my beliefs and values are the foundations that help me stand tall, in good times and bad, and they help me to inspire you to realize you too can live the kind of life you thought was only in your dreams.

Trust and continue to walk down your path!

Your dream is yours and only you can live it!

It is your Choice!

The Power of Concentration

Do you ever get distracted?

Do you ever mean to do one thing and then find yourself doing another?

Do you ever lack concentration?

If you can say no to any of the above – CONGRATULATIONS! You are fairly unique.

There are not many people out there who are truly able to fully concentrate for any length of time. Research shows it is only between 1-3 % of the population. Could that be the 1-3 % of the population who truly make it in life?

Would you agree that it would be of the greatest value if we learned how to concentrate? The amount of focus you have on your important tasks determine your success. To make a true success of anything you must be able to concentrate your entire thought upon the idea you are working on. The person that is able to concentrate utilizes all constructive thoughts and shuts out all destructive ones. The greatest man would accomplish nothing if he lacked concentration and got distracted from his main objectives.

Yet we all know that in order to accomplish a certain task we must concentrate on it. So it is of the utmost value to learn how to concentrate especially when working on a new idea or a new business. As soon as we are laser focused we will move forward but if we are wishy washy and half hearted nothing will happen except frustration because so much valuable time has passed without seeing results.

Let me repeat: To make a success of anything you must be able to concentrate your entire thought upon the idea you are working out. Do not become discouraged, if you are unable to hold your thought on the subject very long at first. There are very few that can. It seems a peculiar fact that it is easier to concentrate on something that is no good for us, than on something that is beneficial.

This tendency is overcome when we learn to concentrate consciously. If you will just practice a few concentration exercises each day you will soon develop this wonderful power. Success is assured when you are able to concentrate for you are then able to utilize for your good all constructive thoughts and shut out all the destructive ones.

Have you ever made a decision to do something – could be in your work, hobby or family life and then set out to do it with the unwavering belief that it will happen? You probably have but in case you do not remember let me give you an example. When I started the Achievers Toastmasters Club I was laser focused because I really wanted a Club that stood for all the positive things Toastmasters offers. The first Club I had belonged to had turned bitchy and unpleasant and I did not want to be part of it anymore.

After making the decision to start a new Club I did not take No for an answer anymore. My only thoughts were on how to get the right people to join and I did everything in my power to achieve that.

The club that still lives my vision today

The club that still lives my vision today

Within 6 weeks we were chartered and should you ever come to the Costa del Sol, you must visit The Achievers TMC because it really stands for the positive, learning environment Toastmasters International propagates. The Club is now more than 7 years old and even though our members change (and I left the country) the vision I had of the Club has not changed and it can be felt at each meeting.

It is of the greatest value to be able to think only that which will be beneficial; that which you really want and not how to avoid what you don’t want. Did you ever stop to think what an important part your thoughts, concentrated thoughts, play in your life? We are wonderful creatures, but we must continue to train and develop to reach our goals. Anything can be accomplished by every man if he can be awakened to do his very best.

That is why Anthony Robbins talks about “Awaken the Giant within” but the greatest man would not accomplish much if he lacked concentration and effort. If you study success you will know that people with very bad grades in school have achieved incredible things. You will have read the stories of the timid young man who became a powerful entrepreneur even though outside his field he is still shy. Dwarfs can do the work of giants when they are transformed by the magic power of great mental concentration. But even giants could only do the work of dwarfs when they lack this power.

We accomplish more by concentration than by knowledge; the man that is apparently best suited for a pposition does not always fill it best. It is the man that concentrates on its every possibility that makes an art of both his work and his life. As in all other good things in life your real advancement will come from your individual effort.

Therefore make a plan each day of the most important tasks that will get you where you want to go – set clear priorites. Make this time a time in which you will not be disturbed by phone calls, meetings, children, spouses or your favorite telenovela. This time is only for you and your goals. Depending on how good your power of concentration already is start with a minimum of 30 minutes and work yourself up bit by bit. Find out what your best time of day is to concentrate.

For me it is first thing in the morning, for one of my best friends it is in the late evening. Use that time to move you forward – towards your dreams and goals.

Today is your day! Use it wisely
Love Barbara

Create the right Habits

“It is not impossibilities that fill us with deepest despair, but possibilities that we have failed to realize.” – Robert Mallet, Poet

Only a tiny percentage of the world unleashes the full potential in their life. Statistics say it’s 2% or 3%, which is a very small minority.

What do the other 97% do? What do they have in common?

One of their biggest commonalities is that they choose ‘pleasing methods’ over ‘pleasing results’.

How do I mean that. Well I mean success isn’t natural, sitting on your butt and failing consequently is.
97% of the world want to do just the easy things and they want to use only the easy methods. That is why everybody is looking for the quick fix and prefers an unhealthy pill over a more healthy lifestyle.

But isn’t it much more interesting to find our what the other 3% have in common?

The biggest differences between the 97% and the 3% is the 3% make a habit of doing the things they don’t like to do first.

You have heard right. Better read it again.

The biggest differences between the 97% and the 3% is that the 3% make a habit of doing the things they don’t like to do first.

Naturally nobody enjoys doing the things they don’t want to do, so why do the 3% take action?

The answer is because they don’t focus on the process, they focus on the result; on the benefits they get out of taking that action. And this shift in focus turns the ordinary into extraordinary, mediocrity into abundance. When you focus on the process, procrastination becomes your best friend.

Action Steps

Ask yourself:
1. What is ONE thing I don’t want to do today, but if I did it, it would move my life or my business forward?
2. How will I benefit from doing it?
3. Write it down
4. and DO IT.

Taking action and doing one thing a day you don’t want to do is worth fighting for.

Remember, people form habits and habits form futures. Cultivate habits that lead to wisdom, happiness, and riches. If you need a push once in a while let me coach you in creating your new habits because habits predict the outcome of our lives. We have to form the right personal and financial habits to be able to live our full potential.

I trust you to do the first thing first

I believe in YOU.
