Do it for yourself!

“Keep on going and the chances are you will stumble on something,
perhaps when you are least expecting it. I have never heard of
anyone stumbling on something sitting down.”- Charles F. Kettering

Do it for yourself!

Accountability is probably the No. 1 reason why some people make things happen while others only talk about them. If you are one of the go getters, you probably don’t need this advice. However I believe we all have strength and weaknesses and it is good when we become more aware of both. So stay with me as this cannot hurt you but it might make you even stronger and more committed to your success.

I remember when my first coach told me to write him an email every single night I did not take it serious. I said ok and forgot it. He had said it very politely and I did not think it was a requirement.
I soon found out I was wrong and it taught me a big lesson.

He reminded me of my commitment when we next spoke and I thought to myself “Oh why bother. I know what I am doing.” but he did not take that lightly and I will be forever grateful to him for doing that.

On our third appointment he asked me if I think coaching works and of course I said yes. Why else would I pay him to coach me, right? “So why don’t you do your accountability every night?” he asked.
“Oh, I am doing everything I said I would. I just don’t send it to you.” was my fast and not completely truthful answer. “Even if you don’t feel it is necessary, it would help the process a lot.” was his request. And he went on to tell me the story of another client.

To cut the story short, I started to do as asked and do it until today. It has become a habit that I would not miss for the world and tomorrow I will tell you why.

Until then, be successful!

Does your Life have meaning?

Yesterday we looked at what you would do if you had all the money you would ever need and could do anything knowing that you could not fail.

What did you come up with?

Would that give your life more meaning?

If it would, why are you not doing it?

You might come up with some good sounding excuses like “no time” or “no money” but in most cases you do not really need money to start doing what you wrote down. But what you do need is a decision and true commitment to make it happen.

Let me tell you a story. I have been invited to speak at the Festival of Enlightenment next June. The initiators of the festival were regular people with a big dream. They are coaches, good coaches with a big dream and one day they decided that they want to make that dream come true. They founded the idea of the Festival of Enlightenment and from that moment on invested all their time and their life’s savings into what they pronounce to be the

They are living their dream – against all odds!

If you get a chance to meet them, you will know that they are living their dream, their purpose, their passion. It shows in everything they do and you can see how they thrive on it even though they face massive challenges. It is really inspiring to watch.

But we need to define first what it is that we set our mind to. Before we are crystal clear we just drift through life hoping for the best.

Return from Mastermind Cruise

First of all let me appologize for having been gone for so long. As most of you know I was in the US and Canada, actually I was on a Mastermind Cruise in Alaska with some great people like Liz Lynn, Warren Whitlock, and last but definitely not least Coach Carter (the real one!).

Having Alaskan King Crab with Coach Carter

The nature was just simply amazing. We saw whales, seals, and lots of icebergs and I learned a lot about the gold diggers. We are so soft today compared to what hardships they had to go through in the “good, old days”.

They actually dragged a full years supply across the Rockies – pretty unbelievable and no wonder so many did not make it. You had to burn your bridges and be seriously committed to your future to survive those tracks. Made me think…

I loved every minute of this trip – be it on board or during the excursions – and could easily have stayed on.

Preparation and Commitment are the Keys To Success

Brian Tracy said: “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. And I totally agree with him. That follows my prior posts talking about having to know what you want before you can start walking (and working) towards it. I hope it is obvious by now that becoming crystal clear is the first key to a successful, happy life.

Then you need a plan… but before you begin your planning, you need a clear idea of your destination, right? Ask yourself where you want to end up? Ask yourself what you want to experience when you get there?

From my personal experience I know that I have reached many a goal – small or big – without even realising that I had.  And that is bad because if you don’t recognize your achievements who will?

If you don’t celebrate, if you don’t reward yourself when you have reached one of your goals,  you will not enforce your potential and might even think you are a failure because you don’t recognize in how many areas of your life you are already successful.

Let me give you an example. When I was in the middle of writing my book I got stuck. I had the feeling I would never finish and at one stage I actually stopped – I procrastinated on finishing it for over 2 years. I got distracted by someone else’s dream and joined forces with that person for a while. It was hard work to get back on track with the book because now it felt like work and not like fun anymore.  I re-started writing only because too many people asked me how the book was doing and it wasn’t doing anything so I felt like a failure. Not the best of motivation, is it?

Fortunately that feeling was short lived and once I got going I actually loved the process again but can you follow my train of thought? I had not appreciated the conclusion of each chapter. I had not really appreciated the writing process and the parts that I was accomplishing really well. Because of that lack of appreciation for my creativity and for the results I was producing, I got frustrated and later distracted until I actually  stopped writing altogether.  This is a trap I see many of my clients fall into and the grass always seems greener on the other side, doesn’t it?

I discuss this topic in depth in the Cycle of Success and also in the TO BE book because most people don’t realize what keeps them motivated and appreciating your own achievements – no matter how small – is one of the big factors in that.

The cycle of success is like this:

Belief > Potential > Action > Results > stronger belief > higher potential > more focused action > even better results > even stronger belief (this is where total assurance starts)…

And that brings us to the next part which is believing that you can achieve what you set out to do. We will talk about that in my next post.

Have an amazing day

Mastermind to Success – Take the Opportunity NOW

Masterminding allows us to lean on each other and live our life with efficiency and clarity of purpose. It provides us with tools for self-discovery, growth and transformation.

The concept of the Mastermind was formally introduced by Napoleon Hill in the early 1900’s through his book “Think and Grow Rich” It is an extremely powerful concept that has been somewhat diluted and misused in business and personal development circles in the last few years. Let me explain what a real Mastermind group is and how it works.

In a true Mastermind group you will find synergy, commitment, and support.  The beauty of Masterminds is that participants raise the bar by challenging each other to create and implement goals, to brainstorm ideas, and to support each other with integrity, respect and compassion.  Members of our Mastermind groups hold each other accountable and act as catalysts for growth, devil’s advocates and supportive colleagues!

In his timeless classic, “Think And Grow Rich” Napoleon Hill  wrote about the Mastermind principle as:

“The coordination of knowledge and effort of two or more people, who work toward a definite purpose, in the spirit of harmony.”

He continues …

“No two minds ever come together without thereby creating a third, invisible intangible force, which may be likened to a third mind.”

In a Mastermind Group, the agenda belongs to the group, and each person’s participation is key to it’s success.  Your peers give you feedback, help you brainstorm new possibilities, and set up accountability structures that keep you focused and on track. You create a community of supportive colleagues who brainstorm together to move the group and each of its participants to new heights.

You’ll gain tremendous insights, which can improve your business and your personal life. Your MasterMind Group is like having a objective board of directors (something you will not find too often in business 🙂

How life can change fast

“You will never change your life until you change something you do daily.” – Mike Murdock

As you are reading this I know you are willing and ready to change some things in your life but as we all know – alone – it is difficult. That is why life coaching is so extremely successful.

When I first had a life coach – and yes, I still have one – I started just for fun to see how it worked. I wanted to know what the buzz was all about and Oh boy did I realise what a great help a coach can be.

You see to change our habits and the believes we have grown up with takes more than just an idea, a self-help book or good intentions. It takes true commitment and continuous reminders of that commitment. That is why AA and Weight Watchers work. They are asking people to make, sometimes drastic changes in their drinking or eating habits and support them in their weekly meeting.

Life coaching is similar. Your coach is your partner in the change process. She/he will support you, remind you, prod you and mastermind with you each step of the way. They will help you get unstuck and keep you moving forward.

Sometimes it takes only a few coaching sessions and you have overcome whatever obstacle was in your way and can now continue by yourself – you are unstuck! Other times you might make it a longer relationship because there is more than one area in your life that you want to change; that you want to improve on. You decide! After all it is your life, isn’t it?

It is an undebatable fact that life coaching works extremely well as long as you have the right coach. I suggest to try a couple before you start. Most of us offer a free introductory session.

Give it a go – life will never be the same!

To your unlimited success
