We are bombarded with books, films and heated discussions on the differences between man and women. It was even suggested we come from different planets altogether “Man are from Mars, Women are from Venus”. And sometimes watching the behavior of the species makes one wonder 🙂
Research shows that the differences between men and women have a lot to do with the way we are brought up. I watched a program on German TV last night on brain research and development. It reminded us of the way babies are treated and how that influences our whole life.
The scientists made a study on how parents, grandparents, nurses, and society as a whole treat babies. The result was that baby girls are cuddled, caressed, and mainly looked at from the attraction point of view while baby boys are looked at from the perspective of potential strength “what a big boy”, “how strong he is” etc.
Because we are looked at and treated that way from the very first days of our life, it obviously influences the development of our beliefs and values which in turn govern our life.
Interesting perspective, isn’t it? My father always wanted a boy and he treated me as such. I wonder if that is why I have become so fiercely independent?
Hmm, let me mull that over…

PS: The study showed also that that our thought pattern and our behavior is not so different when fed with the same information.
