At 15 he heard that the University of Washington had a main frame computer that was not being used, so Bill would get up and go there to program.

By the time he dropped out of Harvard he had over 10.000 hours of programming experience.

The moral of the story: Bill Gates did not just wake up and create Microsoft in his parents garage. He spent major time learning about what he loved to do BEFORE he became one of the richest man on the planet.
